Experts in Restoration Work

We undertake a great deal of restoration work, repairing ageing or damaged plasterwork. We adapt our approach to fit the particular style and period of building, and our extensive work with theatres is testament to our ability to successfully tackle detailed yet large-scale projects.

Theatre Royal Drury Lane Restoration Project

When Theatre Royal Drury Lane needed to restore its Royal Box, we worked alongside English Heritage to ensure the finish was in keeping with the period features, and that the design fitted seamlessly with the rest of the theatre.

We were called in to inspect the damaged Royal Box and it was evident that the extent of the damage required a complete replacement.

After a full site survey we were able to take exact measurements of curves and impressions of moulded details and the Royal crest was brought back to our workshop where our skilled plaster craftsmen set about creating a full size replica model.

Once the base mould was completed we then worked on the fine detail of the crest which included remodelling the smaller components of the crest itself.

A series of casts were manufactured from the rubber mould and seemlessly installed at the theatre.

Conference Room Mayfair

Original Interiors were contacted by Morgan Lovell as they needed support on a bespoke project with a short deadline.

Using concept drawings and CAD layouts we were able to accurately manufacture the bespoke plaster details to the exact requirements, alllowing for easy installation.

In addition to the central boardroom we also manufactured mouldings for the 4 adjacent meeting rooms with complementary designs.

The project offered a range of challenges, the main being a very tight deadline which was achievable without any complications.

We made use of CNC Laser Cutting and Autocad layouts to avoid any adjustment work to be carried out on site. Our client was extremely pleased with the results.

Albert Court Mansions - Fire Damage Restoration

Following the fire at Albert Court Mansions in 2007, R and D Residential commissioned us to carry out extensive fibrous plaster restoration work on 10 of the flats in this historic mansion block.

Due to the extent of the damage and the requirement to maintain the period appearance of the original mouldings, the project duration was planned for three years.

The work included restoration of the original plasterwork features with a great deal of the original ceilings being fire damaged.

Due to the fire and the water used by the emergency services the damage was significant and posed several challenges. This was further amplified by the fact that there weren't any architectural drawings to follow and the fire damage was so extensive it was impossible to match the mouldings from standard methods. To work around this we contacted residents, past and present, and used their photography to help us create the required detailed finishes to the ceiling restoration work.

Another challenge that we had to overcome was the limited access available, again due to the historic nature of the building and the fact that residents who weren't affected by the fire damage were still living in their homes.
